Caloric density of foods and obesity

Caloric density refers to the amount of calories in a given volume of food. High-caloric-density foods, often rich in fats and sugars, pack more calories into smaller portions, making it easy to consume excess calories. In contrast, low-caloric-density foods, like fruits and vegetables, offer fewer calories per serving, promoting satiety without high calorie intake. The modern diet, often heavy in calorie-dense, nutrient-poor foods, contributes to overeating and obesity. Adopting a diet rich in low-caloric-density foods can aid weight management, as these foods allow individuals to eat larger volumes while consuming fewer calories. This approach is effective in obesity prevention and treatment, as it helps manage hunger while reducing caloric intake.
