Stephanie Green, Speaker at Obesity Conference
Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, United States

Abstract:

When the American Academy of Pediatrics published the new clinical guidelines for evaluation and treatment of pediatric obesity in 2023 it placed an emphasis on using pharmacotherapy early in the care of patients. This has required a cultural shift in the practice of pediatrics. Many providers have not received adequate exposure and training for use of these medications, and therefore the guidelines have not been universally applied. Through clinical practice in applying AAP guidelines I have developed a systematic, thoughtful, and individualized approach for using pharmacotherapy in pediatrics and aim to share it with other practicing providers to better serve our patients with obesity.
