Abstract:
Aim: Effectiveness of indigenous Indian methods on obesity management
Background: Obesity management utilizing Indian traditional medicines like Siddha, Ayurveda, and Varma are utilized in weight reduction and helps in achieving a brisk, and healthy life. By balancing the proportions of Vadha, Pitha and Kabha, one can prevent excess fat accumulation [1].
Obesity prevention program in India utilize the fusion of scientific logic with India's traditional customs such as walking, yoga, and meditation. Yoga, while improving physical activity also assists with stress reduction and its associated diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and obesity [2,3]. In addition, the traditional Indian folk-dance system such as Bihu in Assam and Bhangra in Punjab are highly energy-consuming making them ideal for use in weight reduction while making physical activity enjoyable [4]. However, studies on the Indian traditional customs and medicines in obesity management is lacking.
