Biography:
Maha El Akoum is Manager of Content and Policy Translation at Policy Hub, Qatar Foundation, with over a decade of experience in public health research and health policy. She holds a BSc in Biological Sciences from the American University of Beirut and an MPH from Imperial College London. Her expertise spans global health policy, non-communicable diseases, childhood obesity, mental health, palliative care, and Islamic bioethics. Maha has authored and co-authored numerous reports and peer-reviewed publications across these areas and has presented her work at leading international health forums. She has led several national-level health initiatives and contributed to policy development across Qatar and beyond. Extending her passion for child health beyond policy, she is also a published children's book author — her titles Sometimes I Worry, addressing childhood anxiety, and Ryan's Rainbow Feast, promoting healthy eating habits, reflect her commitment to nurturing healthier, happier children.
